It has been a busy and difficult working life for you.
My motto has always been: A river is flowing and I am in
it. Either I will swim across or I will drown. In order to swim
across, I need to work hard, I need dedication and effort. With
the support of my children and my husband, we managed
to swim across. Now my children and I are still swimming
further. We are always striving to go further.
How did the children grow up in this busy working life?
In our family, raising children belonged to the mother.
Thanks to Mrs. Fatma, my children were raised to be
hardworking, compassionate and discreet. It was their mother
who motivated them. I know that our children have ideals.
They are diligent. After all, we have an entrepreneur-investor
spirit. Therefore, the happiness of achieving something is very
different, unlike anything else. You make a production, and
when you present that production to the market, the results
you get, the feedback you get changes your blood, keeps you
young... I am 79 years old, but I am much better when I am
side by side with my friends. This is the excitement I feel.
Can you tell us about a memory that motivated you like
this?
There are so many stories, actually. But let me tell you one
that I can never forget.
We were manufacturing a part, and I got stuck on it. I couldn’t
solve the problem. It was midnight, and I called a highly
skilled mechanical engineer friend of mine; I said, ‘Ahmet,
I’m stuck on this part, and I need your
help.’ His words to me were, ‘Hasan, if
I were the one manufacturing that part,
and I got stuck where you are stuck,
there was only one person I would call
in Turkey, and that’s you!’ Look at the
motivation in that... It was 11:30 PM
when I called him, and after we talked,
I said, ‘I have something.’ Moreover,
Bülent had pointed something out to
me regarding this, but I hadn’t paid
attention to it. I remembered that too.
After numerous trials and errors, I
finally clicked his phone at 2 AM. He
called me right away. He said, ‘It worked,
didn’t it?’ I replied, ‘Yes, it did.’ He said,
‘I already knew it would, Hasan.
I was a good tree, I had tiny little branches,
I had to be pruned. Experience came and
pruned and I grew even more lush. Now my
children are growing the upper branches.
